Okadaman Food Truck, a newcomer to the NYC mobile meal scene, specializes in the Japanese street food Okonomiyaki, or savory pancakes often consisting of cabbage, special batter, and various other savory ingredients.
According to the Okadaman Food Truck site, “Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning “what you like” or “what you want”, and yaki meaning “grilled” or “cooked”. Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, but is widely available throughout the country.” [http://okadamannyc.com/]
Taking a page out of Otafuku’s book, the Japanese takeout stand in the East Village, this mobile eatery will also serve Takoyaki, the delicious sizzling hot balls of fried octopus in batter. Yakisoba, or fried noodles with cabbage and pork, and Kara-Age, fried chicken and cabbage over rice, will also be available.
For those looking for something exotic and unique, Okadaman Food Truck will be a welcome addition to the vibrant and bustling New York City food truck scene.
