On the back right wall of the Arthur Avenue Retail Market sits Mike’s Deli, well known for their stellar eggplant parm and other delectable subs.
Prosciutto, mortadella and other cured meats are stacked high on Italian heroes, with flavor packed cheeses and sides to finish them off. Again, the good natured spirit of Belmont is alive and well here.
Just made, and still warm from the pulling process, mini balls of mozzarella were being handed out as we walked by this stand. While we weren’t ready for a lunch order quite yet, the flavor and salinity of the cheese was spot on, and I’m sure made for a killer topping to the sandwiches below.
Many of the heroes here are named after celebrities, like the Paula Dean, or the Mussolini, a combination of cappicola, anchovies, and fontinella cheese. This is one of the standout bites people flock here for.
